Adila is a U.A.E National, a three times breast cancer survivor, housewife, entrepreneur and 3rdDan Shotokan karate expert. She loves yoga and pilates, and credits her active lifestyle and positive can-do attitude for helping her to beat cancer.
Apart from the above activities Adila is also in her element when she is creating and baking cupcakes. She has recently opened Project Cupcake in Dubai Mall – a feat she has completed remotely from London in between visits to the hospital for her treatment.
Along with her sister Dr. Samina, she was the first Emirati woman at 78 degrees north in the Norwegian Arctic back in 2007. Adila fell in love with Svalbard and felt she had found her nirvana, so much so she signed up for the 2008 expedition. Four years later Adila joined the 2012 Arctic Expedition making it a “polar hat trick”. The Antarctica has been calling Adila since her first trip to the Arctic, so being able to join the 2012 expedition means she will be the first three-time Emirati breast cancer survivor to have ventured to both ends of the earth within the same year!
In addition to her polar adventures with Mountain High, Adila was a team member on the UAE’s first breast cancer survivor’s dragon boat team “The Tickled Pink Paddlers”, taking silver medals in the Penang Dragon Boat Festival just 11 seconds behind the current world champions in this category. With Adila’s “can do” and positive attitude she makes a great role model for other women in the UAE and Gulf region. Adila is an authentic spokeswoman for the cause and has won the hearts of many audiences in person, through print media, and on television.
Adila feels that if other women in her situation see what she is doing, it will encourage them to stand strong against this disease.
Her motto in life is ‘Don’t give up the fight. Face it with attitude.’
